FESTIVALS AND CONCERTS

Our exciting annual programme starts with our inspirational Regional Festival series across the UK in the spring, progresses to our flagship National Festival in Birmingham in July and culminates in the iconic MFY Proms at the Royal Albert Hall in November. Alongside this, we deliver a range of special projects that broaden participation and support progression: Frequencies, Accelerando, Together for Music and MFY Invites.

MUSIC FOR YOUTH REGIONAL FESTIVAL

Over 15,000 young musicians from music hubs, schools, universities and community organisations take part in MFY Regional Festivals across the UK each spring, giving them the opportunity to experience the joy of live performance, connect with others in their region and be inspired by a wide range of musical genres.

Any group of two or more musicians aged 21 or under, regardless of genre or ability, can take part by performing live at a Regional Festival – or by submitting a recording through Mentor Connects, our innovative digital programme. All musicians receive tailored developmental feedback from professional Music Mentors and join the MFY pathway — opening further opportunities to perform at major venues including Symphony Hall, CBSO Centre and the Royal Albert Hall through a main stage invitation or through open access elements of our programme. Regional Festival 2026 takes place in March and April 2026.

NATIONAL FESTIVAL

The National Festival supports the next generation of talented young musicians and gives them unforgettable performance opportunities on world-class stages in Birmingham. Over 8,000 young musicians aged 4-21 join us for this exciting programme of performances and workshops which welcomes all instruments, ensembles of all sizes and all musical. The festival shines a spotlight on the creativity and talents of young musicians and creates an atmosphere where ‘everyone’s a headliner.’ National Festival 2026 takes place on Friday 10th – Saturday 11th July.
