MFY REMIX Prom 2021

Creative Project

This is the moment. Half the hall full of young people making music together. A national Massed Ensemble with a difference!

About the Prom

The MFY REMIX Prom 2021, will take place at the Royal Albert Hall on Wednesday 3rd November at 6pm.

Music For Youth has commissioned composer Tim Steiner to lead a bumper creative project for up to 2,000 young people which will be at the heart of our prom. There will also be a spectacular finale for all performers inspired by a video which featured on our National Festival video wall in July 2021.

About the Project

Who can book a place?

We're inviting any groups from 5 - 250 young people to sign up. Groups can be made up of any instrumentation or vocal range, and of any ability; and can come from schools (Primary or Secondary), Music Education Hubs or independent performance groups.

This project is free to everyone taking part.

What does it involve?

All groups will perform in the Royal Albert Hall together, as a massed project. These will comprise of multiple performance episodes throughout the 2 hour prom. All participants are also encouraged to take part in the finale.

This will require a little preparation in advance, and we will supply the resources needed from mid-September. These free online resources will have accessible parts/instructions whatever your level of ability and whether you are a 30-piece big band, a WCET ukulele group, an acapella vocal group or a percussion ensemble, parts will be provided.

Online CPD sessions for teachers and ensemble leaders will also be provided.

There will be a rehearsal on the afternoon of the day of the prom.
