We are delighted to invite you to be part of our largest ever Creative Project at the Royal Albert Hall, showcasing the brilliance of over 1000 young musicians from across the UK.
Wednesday 27 November and Thursday 28 November!
THIS YEAR'S CREATIVE PROJECT IS CLOSED FOR APPLICATIONS
Experience the electric atmosphere of performing at the Royal Albert Hall alongside over 1500 other singers and instrumentalists, by being part of a special creative collaboration between Music for Youth, BBC Ten Pieces, ABRSM and the Royal Albert Hall.
Open to musicians of all abilities, at the heart of this year’s Music for Youth Proms is a special new piece by composer Cassie Kinoshi, titled ‘the colour of all things constant’. The piece is commissioned in partnership with BBC, ABRSM and the Royal Albert Hall as part of the BBC Ten Pieces project. With words by poet Belinda Zhawi, the commission focuses on the powerful and timely theme of kindness and is one of several works from the much-loved BBC Ten Pieces list to be performed during the Proms. You will also have the chance to play in the opening and finale of the Music for Youth Proms 2024.
If you have a group of young musicians you want to excite and inspire, this will be a day out to remember!
How does it work?

As a charity ourselves, we understand that it can sometimes be challenging to cover the costs of participating in or travelling to events, so here are a few ideas that might help to raise funds: https://mfy.org.uk/get-involved/fundraising-ideas/
There is a small subsidy available to help with the ticket price, for those who are in genuine need of support. Please do get in touch with the team by emailing programmes@mfy.org.uk

What music will we be performing?
There are 3 pieces to learn. All parts and arrangements can be found on the participants portal (link to the portal is sent once payment is received).
The Creative Project is a massed ensemble featuring up to 1000 musicians. As a member of that massed ensemble you will perform from the seats in the stalls, choir stalls, or arena.
This will allow you to watch the whole concert and participate alongside the other members of the Creative Project..
All members of the same group will be sat together regardless of instrumentation
Will we have time to rehearse?
Yes – see ‘How will the day run?’
The Creative Project rehearsal will include lighting, stage and sound engineers working with us to help prepare for the evening performance.
The way we have programmed the concert means some parts of the performance will run straight from one group into another with no presenter link. There will be time to rehearse these links and cues on the day to make sure that performers are confident
Do I need to buy tickets for chaperones?
You will need to purchase a Creative Project place for all members of your group: adults and children, performing or chaperoning.
Music for Youth will make arrangements for all performers, conductors and designated adult helpers to watch the concert from your performance location so there is no need to buy audience tickets for them.
How do I get there and is there parking available?
Directions to the Royal Albert Hall can be found at: Getting Here | Royal Albert Hall — Royal Albert Hall
Please instruct coaches to drop off at your designated coach stop (to be confirmed in your Final Information). These will all be situated near the Royal Albert Hall. Please note that Music for Youth does not have any parking reserved at the Royal Albert Hall.
Once your coach has dropped you off the driver will need to arrange parking away from the venue.
Similarly, at the end of the concert, please instruct coaches to pick your group up from your designated coach stop (to be confirmed in your Final Information) to ensure traffic flow and young people’s safety.
No, please see ‘How will the day run?’ for the day’s timings.
However, some groups may choose to stay overnight. Music for Youth is unable to recommend a specific company, however you may find these useful:

Can I include all my students, even the beginners?
Yes - We can accommodate any musician’s regardless of ability.
All parts have been arranged to cater for all stages of learning, from total beginner up to professional standard. Just select the correct level parts from the folders on the participant portal.
Are there any restrictions on what instruments can be accommodated?
Unfortunately, we can’t accommodate pianos or keyboards, large percussion (only handheld), or amplified instruments such as electric and bass guitars. Those instrumentalists are still very welcome to perform by either singing or playing handheld percussion.
Do we need to bring music stands?
Yes, groups will need to bring their own music stands and beaters where applicable.
Will I get a refund on the cost of my tickets if I have to cancel?
If we are able to resell your tickets, we will happily arrange a refund on the ticket cost.
If we are unable / it is too late to resell the tickets, unfortunately we won't be able to refund the cost.
