Frequencies Music Video Festival

The first UK-wide festival where film and music meet, featuring digital content created by emerging creatives!

ABOUT 

Featuring original stories told by emerging creatives in film and music, the Frequencies Music Video proudly presented it’s first edition at The Music and Arts Centre in Birmingham, on April 19th.

Whether emerging or established, the festival empowered emerging independent filmmakers and music creators to tell their stories, no matter who or where they are.

Bringing together a national network of partners committed to celebrating creativity, the festival showcased future talent with an award ceremony, film screenings, workshops and inspirational panel discussions.

The winning creatives of each category received various prizes, including cash rewards, equipment and/or software.

Outreach and Engagement Manager, Showroom Cinema/Hidden Pictures North, Producer

Sam Barnett

Sam started his film making journey in the exhibition sector as a manager at the Showroom Cinema in Sheffield, before progressing to Creative England and Film Hub North over the span of four years. Sam now works as a freelancer across film exhibition, production and education, recently line producing the upcoming Dawn of the Dark Fox by 104 Films in Sheffield, managing and delivering the BFI Film Academy and working directly with distributors such as eOne and Altitude on upcoming releases.

Sam is also an upcoming film producer based in Sheffield, working within a small, dedicated and experienced team within the North, unearthing new and exciting voices through documentary and fiction.

MUSICIAN AND PROGRAMME MANAGER BASED IN LONDON

WINNIFRED SANDY

Winnie is a music industry and education programme producer who works across the arts (TV, Film, Music & Performing Arts). She develops initiatives, events and partnerships that supports the arts infrastructure. In addition to programming, her expertise lies in implementing processes, research, evaluation and grants that support key strategic priorities. As Project Manager at MFY she is responsible for developing and leading the youth engagement programme within the informal sector and ensuring the delivery of multiple pathways of diverse young people into MFY events and opportunities.  

Writer & Director based in London. Co-Founder of Production company Mongrel Pictures

Kathryn McCorgarry

Kathryn is a London based Writer/Director. Her previous work has won the Sky Atlantic Grierson Award, the People’s Choice award at Aesthetic Film Festival 2014, and most recently her docu-fiction film The Plant Collector was featured in Director’s Notes, chosen as one of ten outstanding shorts from Underwire Film Festival 2022.

London based Cinematographer & graduate of the National Film and Television School

Toby Lloyd

Toby is a London based Cinematographer, a graduate of the prestigious National Film and Television School, where he learnt from some of the best cinematographers in the world. The use of light, lenses and camera placement in order to create poetic, textured images that capture the true emotion of a story are what he is most interested in as a cinematographer.

Toby studied at the NFTS through a scholarship donation provided by the British Society of Cinematographers. He’s experienced on many formats, having shot projects on 16mm, 35mm and digital.

Projects Toby has worked on have seen success at film festivals around the globe, and have won awards along the way. Most recently The Black Cop, which Toby Co-DPed, won the BAFTA for Best Short Film in 2022.
