Music & Drama Education Expo | London
Music for Youth will be exhibiting at this year’s Music & Drama Education Expo, taking place on 22 & 23 February 2018 at Olympia London.
With over 80 workshops and seminars, the event is Europe’s largest free conference for music and drama education with sessions covering curriculum and assessment, new approaches for instrumental teaching and incentivising your students to practice, teaching primary and early years music, through to grime opera, rock, pop and music technology.
Comedian and drummer Al Murray leads the line-up of keynote speakers at this year’s conference, alongside BBC Ten Pieces composer Kerry Andrew, Schools Minister Nick Gibb, Ofsted’s Mark Phillips, National Youth Choirs' Dominic Ellis-Peckham and teaching artists from Disney's Aladdin.
There will be hands-on workshops on singing, chair drumming and world music (including the chance to join the UK’s largest ever Kecak chorus) with practical exercises to take away and use with your students. Policy sessions will look to the future of arts education, with ISM providing strategies on making the case for music against a challenging landscape of EBacc and funding cuts.
The exhibition floor will feature stands from over 150 arts organisations from exam boards and music publishers, instrument manufactures and retailers, to music associations and services.
New for 2018 is Creatives’ Corner – a place to meet the authors behind the books and resources teachers use every day. Pick up tips on teaching the pieces you’re using with students directly from the composers themselves!
