National Festival 2021

#MFYREMIX2021

About

Our theme this year is Remix 2021, celebrating the amazing ways that teachers, music leaders and young people have adapted, innovated, reimagined, reconfigured and rearranged how they make music together. How our entrants have interpreted and responded to our theme has been completely up to them: reimagined covers, remixes, new arrangements, innovative performances using technology or different sounds, adapted recordings to cater for social distancing or other physical challenges, reconfigured performances to include additional instruments, a particular performance space or a dance/theatrical element; or even young people talking about their first rehearsal since lockdown or what making music online has been like for them.

Live from 6th July 2021

Remix 2021 Video Wall

Thank you to everyone who has submitted a video to be included on the National Festival Video Wall by the deadline of Monday 24th May. We have once again been overwhelmingly inspired by the way that young people and the music education sector have responded to the challenges that Covid-19 has presented; adapting, innovating and reconfiguring how you perform, learn and socialise together through music.

All submissions were reviewed by our expert panel of MFY Music Mentors and we're delighted to share every video that was submitted. Everyone who submitted a video received written feedback and the opportunity to take part in our Mentor on Call scheme.

With thanks to...

This year's National Festival has been made possible by our incredible sponsors, who share our passion for creating life-changing opportunities for young musicians.

With special thanks to The Martyn Donaldson Music Trust, The Rowlands Trust, Backstage Trust, and Scrutton Estates Ltd for their additional contribution towards the 2021 National Festival.
