Primary Prom

The Music for Youth Primary Proms provide primary school children with the opportunity to experience live music in major concert halls across the UK, and encourage their involvement with music.

Taking place across the country throughout the year these inspirational free concerts are performed by young people, for young people, providing first hand experience of live music-making in a fun and engaging environment.

What happens at a Primary Prom?

Once you've taken your seats among the hundreds and sometimes thousands of other children, teachers, and parents, our presenter will guide you through the concert, giving you information about the groups performing, the music they're playing and also the instruments they're using. (There may even be opportunities for you to join in!) Your job? Get excited, get involved, and most importantly, have fun!

London Primary Prom 2018, in partnership with the Royal Albert Hall

As a charity the Royal Albert Hall is dedicated to giving access to all by running a thriving Education & Outreach programme working with over 100,000 children, teachers, young people, families and community groups each year. They deliver a wide range of exciting opportunities linked to the Hall’s calendar of events and the unique characteristics of the building; these include specially created tours, workshops, projects and schools matinees.
The Royal Albert Hall is a proud partner of Music for Youth.

Over 9,000 FREE tickets available for school children!

The Music for Youth Primary Prom concerts are aimed at Key Stages 1 and 2, offering the opportunity for school students to experience live music making in one of the world’s most famous concert halls.

Presenter Rachel Leach will guide you through the concert and explore the instruments and sounds heard in the dynamic and eclectic performances by talented young musicians, and there will even be a chance for your pupils to be part of an audience participation piece.

The Primary Prom concerts aim to inspire and motivate the next generation of music makers. Don’t miss this opportunity to capture your pupils’ imagination!

An online curriculum-based learning resource will be made available in advance to enhance your Primary Prom experience.

Get Excited!

To accompany each Primary Prom show we provide a resource pack which includes a guide to the event and things for you and your young people to look out for on the day, which you will be able to download from this page. This also includes follow-up activities designed to bring the whole Primary Proms experience to life.
