The Music for Youth National Festival sees over 8,000 young musicians come to Birmingham from all over the country to perform an exciting and eclectic range of music in Birmingham’s finest concert halls. Every day of the Festival presents something new, with high quality performances from wind bands to folk music, to choirs and orchestras to pop.
Music for Youth has four days of FREE musical activities for schools to enjoy. A special day of music making for 6 – 11 year olds is taking place on Tuesday 5 July at INFINITY LIVE. Plus, each day of the festival we invite you and your class to a fun filled day of live performances with an interactive Welcome Workshop.
A visit to the Music for Youth National Festival will inspire and motivate the next generation of music-makers; bring your pupils along to hear young musicians perform a wide range of different musical styles from all over the world.
A FREE ticket to the National Festival will include:
- A half hour introductory Welcome Workshop led by a professional musician with participatory activities e.g. singing and call and response.
- Access to live music performances in one of the festival’s iconic venues Symphony Hall, Town Hall and the CBSO Centre.
- Access to live performances in the Festival Tent in Centenary Square and other outdoor stages throughout the city.

Infinity LIVE is a music workshop based on the BRAND NEW free downloadable resource Back to Bass, written to support creative music making in the primary school classroom generously sponsored by the NUT. The Back to Bass resource is designed for both specialist and non-specialist teachers and provides tips and a step-by-step project teaching guide for collaborative composing from the bass line up. Bring your class to this special day of music making!
