Join the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain’s clinicians for a programme of inspirational and entertaining brass masterclasses. Make sure your band is represented either as players or as audience!

The NYBBGB Clinicians are Mark Wilkinson (Cornets and Horns) and Glyn Williams (Euphoniums, Baritones, Trombones and Tubas). Mark and Glyn are Principal Cornet and Principal Euphonium of the Foden’s Band who are double British and National Champions.


Music Theatre Workshop with YMTUK

Where   New Lecture Theatre (Birmingham Conservatoire)
Who for   14 - 18 year olds
Max participants   Up to 60 young musicians

YMT practitioners will work on developing musical theatre skills: how to act through song, how to prepare for auditions, how to devise material (both in song and speech), how to give a pop song character and how to incorporate musicianship into your acting. Led by Tarek Merchant (musical director for West End Sunset Boulevard and Fiddler on the Roof) and theatre director Gemma Fairlie (RSC, National Theatre).

Youth Music Theatre UK is the country’s national youth company for musical theatre, one of the nine National Youth Music Organisations (NYMOs) and recent producers of the West End show Loserville by James Bourne (ex-Busted) and Elliot Davis.


MU Careers in Music - Drop-in Surgeries

These MU drop in surgeries provide an opportunity to discuss anything to do with music careers, being a professional musician and working in the music industry. Also take advantage of £20 student membership to access all the benefits and services of being in the MU.

The Festival Tent is a great opportunity to perform in a more informal setting. Each group will have 10 minutes so why not showcase your musical talent to the people of Birmingham?

Who for   National Festival main stage performers (who do not require amplification)
Max participants   A group of approximately 5 young musicians

A unique opportunity to perform outside the main stages and showcase your musical talent at an internationally acclaimed contemporary art venue just near Symphony Hall!
