Where   Recital Hall (Birmingham Conservatoire)
Who for   Up to 3 songwriters, audience welcome

2013 sees the launch of MFY’s exciting new Young Artist Development Programme, which supports student composers from all musical backgrounds. Please consider whether you have any such students within your performing groups who might want to sign up for this session.

The RNCM Session Orchestra will work with singer/songwriters in a ‘live arranging’ session of original songs. The session will focus on the work of 3 young songwriters who will collaborate with the orchestra to produce a new and original version of their songs, and is open to anyone who is interested in songwriting and the creative arranging process.

Directed by Andy Stott, songwriters will provide the orchestra with a chart or lead sheet of their work and the musicians will develop ideas around instrumentation, groove, backing vocals, string and brass lines. This innovative session is designed to give aspiring songwriters an insight into working with professional musicians and inspire them to consider writing for larger ensembles.
