Exchange 2016

Music for Youth and Youth Scotland in association with Platform present;


Date: Friday 4 & Saturday 5 March 2016

Exchange, produced by Music for Youth in association with Platform, Glasgow, saw over 400 young musicians, all aged 21 and under, perform their music, take part in industry panel discussions and workshop their music alongside industry professionals and performers. Guest speakers included Craig Armstrong, world renown composer of modern orchestral music, electronica and film score and also Fiona Hyslop, Scotland's Cabinet Secretary for Culture, Europe and External Affairs.

Exchange was hosted by BBC Radio Scotland presenter Vic Galloway, and celebrated live performances with hands on music workshops and practical sessions for young acts.

Behind the Noise (11:45 - 12:45) – everything you need to know about performing 
Sonic Bothy (12:45 - 13:45 & 14:30 - 15:30) – creative composition in practice (limited capacity)
Composition Workshop (16:00 - 16:45) – Led by Pippa Murphy- An explorative and collaborative composition session for young orchestral instrumentalists

Exchange is part of The Scottish Government’s Youth Music Initiative (YMI) which is administered by Creative Scotland. The YMI creates access to high quality music making opportunities, enables young people to achieve their potential in or through music and supports the development of the sector for the benefit of young people.
