Presented in association with the Percussive Arts Society (UK) and with grateful thanks to Bell Percussion, the Royal College of Music (RCM) is delighted to announce the first ever RCM Festival of Percussion.
Aimed at percussion fans and percussionists of all ages and level of ability, the RCM Festival of Percussion takes place from 10.30am until 7.30pm on Sunday 10 July 2011. The nine-hour, fun-packed festival features an incredible line-up of special guests including:
- Drum legend Peter Erskine
- The complete timpani and percussion sections of the
- BBC Symphony Orchestra
- International marimba soloist Daniella Ganeva
- West End drummer Dave Adams
- Representatives of the UK’s leading instrument manufacturers
- Plus many more
The day also features a mini-festival of the country’s leading young percussion groups, and comes to a grand climax with Peter Erskine’s special guest appearance with Mark Armstrong and the RCM Big Band.

The festival has been devised by David Hockings, Principal Percussionist with the BBC Symphony Orchestra and London Sinfonietta, and Head of Percussion at the RCM – one of the world’s leading conservatoires. Housed in the RCM’s purpose-built percussion suite, the RCM Percussion Faculty offers unrivalled specialist orchestral and solo training, incredible performance opportunities, and the chance to experience a wide variety of styles including jazz, Latin percussion, drum kit and American Drum Line.
