MFY plugs emerging acts into new music event.

Over 100 up-and-coming singer-songwriters, indie and electronic artists, all aged 21 and under, performed in the first ever ‘Frequencies’ event alongside critically acclaimed acts such as Fyfe Dangerfield, from Brit-nominated band the Guillemots, and UK beatbox champion, Hobbit.

Some of the acts who took to the stage at the Manchester Club Academy on 27 and 28 September, will now travel to London to perform at the Royal Albert Hall on Tuesday 11 November and Wednesday 12 November for the gig of a lifetime! They are Sophie Morgan, Dom Major, Benj and Benji, The Rooz and Tobi Sunmola.

The two-day Manchester event, sponsored by the Vivendi Create Joy Fund, offered a new platform for young artists and singer-songwriters to get their music heard, performing on stage alongside established international artists.

One young singer-songwriter, who had one of her songs reworked by the professional artistic team and other young artists taking part in the event said: ‘It was incredible to hear my song arranged like that – it was an amazing experience. Me and the band are full of ideas now.’

The weekend also featured music industry panel discussions, led by Universal Music, giving aspiring artists an unrivalled insight about working in the creative industries. As well as the acts on stage, the event was supported by event marketers from youth events organisation Bigga Fish, and videographers and interviewers in training from Rising Stars NW

Judith Webster, Chief Executive, stated ‘Frequencies marks a significant shift for MFY’s programme, as many of the young acts who took part in the event were new to us. It was incredibly exciting to hear the quality of the acts, and to watch them perform alongside established artists on an equal footing. We're proud to be able to offer some of them further opportunities to perform at the Royal Albert Hall in November, where I have no doubt they will wow audiences there as well. We wish them well on the next stage of their musical journey.’

To see these Frequencies acts in action at the Schools Prom concert series (10 – 12 November) at the Royal Albert Hall, book tickets at or call the box office on 020 7589 8212
