Every year, charitable events put on by young musicians, supporters and organisations take place in communities across the country, all in aid of MFY.

Most recently, Music for Youth was chosen by the Lincoln Golf Club as one of their annual chosen charities donating more than £4,000 through a series of fundraising events. The donation went towards providing professional musicians for our events in Lincolnshire and supporting groups from the area to access the MFY season of events.

David and Penny Lendon, Lincoln Golf Club captains for 2013/14 said, ‘We are so pleased that MFY was one of our chosen charities for our Golf Club captaincy year. We thoroughly enjoyed the past 12 months and feel we made a positive contribution for the benefit of the Members of the Club and created a positive benefit for the local community’

In April, the Brighton Early Music Festival BREMF) Community Choir joined forces with three local primary schools and a professional Brass Quartet for a special concert in aid of Music for Youth. They performed Henry Purcell’s Funeral Music for Queen Mary, together with instrumental music by English composer Matthew Locke and Venetian composer Giovanni Gabrieli.

The concert, organised by MFY Alumni – Katharine Carson, was held at Brighton & Hove Junior School and raised over £1000 for Music for Youth. The donation will support young musicians accessing local events we hold, removing barriers they might face to their participation.

Without the support of communities and organisations, it would not be possible to do what we do with over 40,000 young musicians every year. A donation of just £5 offers the chance for a young musician to take part in our Regional Festival Series offering performance opportunities and access to professional musicians to develop their music. £50 offers the opportunity for a class of 10 primary school children to attend a Primary Prom concert aimed at inspiring a new generation of musicians.
