Music for Youth is a national youth music organisation providing free access to live music performance opportunities for young people across the UK through an annual season of festivals and concerts.
With a track record of over 40 years of providing high quality performance events for young musicians of all abilities and musical preferences across the UK, MFY’s position within the country’s music education framework is unique. Through its annual programme of Regional Festivals, the MFY National Festival in Birmingham, the MFY Proms at the Royal Albert Hall, as well as through a range of targeted special initiatives, teachers, music leaders and young musicians share musical experiences, learn from their peers, and celebrate their progress and achievements.
MFY uniquely offers a national infrastructure of events which connects regional music education work, allowing organisations and young musicians to have a sense of being part of a bigger national picture.
MFY Music Mentors
At MFY Regional Festivals and the annual National Festival, MFY provides all the groups with access to expert advice from professional musicians – Music Mentors - who listen to all performances and give motivational and constructive feedback to encourage further development. The role of the Music Mentor is crucial in enabling the events to feel supportive for all participants, and to be a celebration of achievement.
Music for Youth is keen to hear from professional musicians interested in joining our pool of Music Mentors. Please follow the links to find out more about the role and how to apply.
MFY aims to refresh and review our pool of Music Mentors on an annual basis. While we are happy to receive applications all year round, our recruitment phase will take place in September each year.
