Schools Prom

For three nights in November, 3,000 talented young musicians will perform for an audience of over 15,000 at the world's most famous concert hall. The concerts celebrate the breadth and quality of music being performed by many thousands of young people in this country today.

Audiences are treated to three joyous nights of high quality music-making embracing every kind of music from boy bands to near professional orchestras at the Royal Albert Hall. Each concert is a showcase for the exuberance, skills and talent of gifted young performers from every corner of the UK and reach a triumphant climax each evening with a spine-tingling finale of fireworks, balloons and Elgar’s stirring Pomp and Circumstance March No. 1 – “Land of Hope and Glory”.

What the performers think!
''For me, performing at the Royal Albert Hall was one of the greatest experiences of my life and the memories from the day will stay with me forever. It was great to be treated as professional musicians for the day and I sincerely hope the event will continue to inspire young people achieve their potential and ambition for many years to come.'' Edward Durie, NE66

''Thank you for a wonderful experience at the Schools Prom. All of the staff and students loved every minute of it and the students are on such a high after their performance. Music for Youth is in my opinion doing life changing work and I have been amazed by the effect it has had on our young people on both a personal and musical level. I hope that the organisation continues to go from strength to strength.'' Robert Briscoe, City of Belfast Youth Orchestra

''The whole evening was a completely awesome event. The kids had an amazing time and were so fired up by the audience's response to their performance. The excitement on the children's faces and pride and support of the parents watching their children perform at such a prestigious venue was priceless.'' Kate Courage, Bristol Massed Choir

PLEASE NOTE: Participants are not necessarily those who have received awards at the National Festival.  Schools Prom Performers are invited from the National Festival in July and are chosen for a variety of criteria including balance of programme and range of music.
